North Area Junior Hockey
North Area Junior Hockey runs junior turf-based hockey competitions for boys and girls from Under 7s to Under 17s on behalf of the participating clubs and the North West Sydney Hockey Association and the Northern Sydney and Beaches Association. These competitions are based primarily in the northern and north-western areas of Sydney. We also welcome the participation of the Briars Hockey Club. All these competitions are mixed. Our Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups are divided into two or three divisions to cater for players with different skill levels. Our aim is to provide a range of participation and competition opportunities for boys and girls interested in hockey. Talented players from each of these age divisions can go on to represent Association teams in Hockey NSW's State Championships.
Our Under 7 and Under 9 players take part in modified, small sided games in a shorter season beginning in Term 2, where the focus is on having fun and learning to play in a team.
North Area Junior Hockey is administered by a committee on which participating clubs are represented. Our matches are usually held on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. Most games are on dedicated hockey turfs at Cintra Hockey Complex (opposite Concord Rugby Stadium), North Turramurra (Kuring-gai High School), Pennant Hills (Pennant Hills Park), Ryde (Macquarie Park), Lidcombe and Sydney Olympic Park (Homebush).
